Bio Mike Plumer
Mike was born in Ohio and spent the best part of his childhood on Catawba Island, on the south shore of Lake Erie. He attended Western Reserve University before it became Case Western Reserve, then moved out west for medical school at the University of Chicago. His lifelong fantasy of being a soldier underwent a continuing reality check during the Vietnam War, and by the time he was to be drafted as a physician he'd become a conscientious objector. Surgery internship at UCLA and anesthesiology residency at UCSD led to a 37-year career in academic medicine and private practice in California, Washington, and now Hawaii.
His first marriage yielded 25 good years and three always- amazing adult children. He married Krystyn more than 10 years ago, acquiring in the process the opportunity to learn about growth with three more children, now all teenagers and eager to continue his education. An MBA in 1996 was the first step in learning of the world beyond medicine, followed by extensive transformational education and finally by training as a life coach, incorporating lessons and growth from life and practice. The discovery and treatment of his prostate cancer in 2000 certainly added to his store of life experience. Mike, Krystyn, and the family moved to the Big Island of Hawaii in 2007, taking on the greatest family adventure to date. |
